I have not been posting much as my little medical regime started making me queasy and just out of sorts as the days passed..It has taken most of my concentration and stamina to just get through the last few days..Last night my weekly support group threw me a going away potluck with presents and everything!! I am so going to miss all of them..I have been a part of that group for over a year..One of my favorite members shared she started smoking a couple of weeks ago..she had 11 months in!! I was so distraught and when I woke up this morning I was still upset, as I have went about my day I wondered why some of us make it and some of us don't????The percentage of people who make it to one year is so astonishingly small and for the ones who make it longer it is even smaller...why???why doesn't everyone reach that place of contentment and acceptance???I wonder if it is because so many people quit physically but not mentally?? I don't have the answer's but today I feel sad which is exacerbated by feeling weak and illish(new word?)... I am thinking of all of you...and everyday I imagine all of us in perfect health and harmony enjoying fabulous quits..Take care...

As long as that medication is doing you some good, it will be worth feeling weak and illish (that's an okay word) for a while.  Sorry to hear your friend started smoking again.  I can't imagine starting up again after being free of nicotine for 11 months, who wants to go through quitting all over again.  Hopefully she will get back on track soon.

Asked my sister who quit about 10 years ago if she ever felt like smoking again.  She said very occasionally she thinks that having a smoke would be nice but then the though just goes away.

Hope you are feeling better soon.  I'm really happy to hear that you are continuing with the treatment even though it is making life hard for you at the moment.

Take care.   (((((((((((HUGS))))))))))

Hi Cami...

I haven't been around lately at QSJ...just check in once a day ... and I want you to know I am thinking and praying for You...it is ok to feel sad...what you are going through right now...doesn't help your emotions...but I am hoping after a good night's rest you are feeling better...

~Have a good Saturday...and know that someone is sending "healing thoughts your way..."~

Here is my thought on people who relapse, if a person is not committed to living a smoke free life they leave the door open to smoking again, at some point during a quit smoking gets to be a choice. I have eliminated smoking by simply saying "never again"  Smoking is not a choice for me how could I light up again knowing how destructive smoking has been to so many of my friends and loved ones, if I purchase cigarettes part of the money I pay will be used for marketing and researching ways to lure young people into smoking, I will never smoke again,

Cami I hope you feel better real soon

O dear Cami, this entry upset me so much. I can't stand that you don't feel well & went back and read 3 or 4 entries, so I could understand what is happening. God will help you through the aggressive treatments, he loves you so much. How could he not, as you just bloom with love for others. I share your sadness about how many smokers return to the habit but I know you will not be one, and you and Peter and Betsy are the rocks to which I cling. I am,, today, 50 days away from a year and I am going to get that year. But yes, it's upsetting when you see someone else pick up the habit again.
Going to california to write screen plays!! Now that truly excites me. How are you doing that? I am not sure what I mean by that question but I want to know more. What kind of screen plays will you write?
much love, Charry Lou

Sorry to hear you are feeling so rough.  Hope the treatment ends soon and you are feeling good again.  As for why some make it and some don't, I think you hit the nail on the head.  They quit physically but not mentally.

Feel better soon sweet Cami!

Hey girl.   Sorry to hear your not feeling well.   I am going to send all kinds of positive healing vibes your way.   I know I have asked myself time and time again why would I started smoking after I had such a long quit going...  I have relapsed a couple of times after having a long run.   Once I had almost a year and a half.  (that was before I belonged to this site)  I don't know why... but it happened.   But as my good wise friend  (YOU)   always told me...  "Just Never Give Up"  and that is what I intend to do.   So just to keep you in the loop... I do have somewhat of a plan in place for my next go around.   I have decided to make a doctors appointment to try the Chantix.   I have quit numerous times using the nico gum but as you know it has been only short term quits... so now I think a different approach is nessasary for me.  I also as stupid as this may sound ... I do think waiting until summer is over is the best plan for me.   I will see doctor soon about the Chantix because I know you are to slowly quit on that.   So my goal is to be totally smokefree by end of October.   Well..  Please take care of yourself.  I hope you feel better soon.   (((((hugs)))))

I can do it..... I know I can.

Hi Cami...

Thanks for the note in my Journal...! Actually, I have been sick for the past week or so...I think it is my sinus's...sore throat, hard to swallow...headache in my head and sinus's....ears hurt...etc., well you got the picture...lol....anyways, last week....I got dizzy when I closed my eyes....and dumb me went off in the car to a luncheon and on the drive home...I got dizzy....driving and it led to a "panic attack"...haven't really had in 7 years...so crippling....my hubby is such a good man ... he picked me up and found someone to pick up the car ... of course I beat myself up....but I was sick and it was the cause of my attack....still hard to admit ... anyways... I have appt with my Doctor tommorrow....I need something to give me some relief with my throat and headaches...I am using my inhaler alot the past 2 weeks ... which isn't good....oh Cami...sorry I am going on here....just rambling....also resting alot and watching some movies...for once...taking care of "me"....

Due to the above....I haven't been able to respond too much at QSJ....but I look for your post and a few other....and respond....sometimes I have nothing to offer...and the past week or so .... I have felt this way....as my hubby says to me....when I am not talking much ... or answering at QSJ...I am sick....lol....Gotta love them...we are lucky to have such loving men...

Have a Great day...and no matter....know you and everyone at QSJ are in my daily prayers...!

Hugs Colleen

I am glad my good news sparked a bit of excitement for  you too. Thank you for all  the candle prayers and well wishing. Here is to all your dreams coming true also, my friend.

I remember my chemotherapy days and they were tough. Aggressive treatment is not for sissies ... that is for sure! Let me know if I can do anything for you, girlfriend. I know you are a warrior and you can get through this.

I have been so tired lately...sleeping early and rising late. I think because of the stress of unemployment. Tonight I am so excited I can't sleep!

Have a great week!

Love and big hugs, Lynne
